Jamaica’s triple jump star, Jaydon Hibbert, has established the Leaps & Bounds Foundation to provide scholarships to students at his former school, Kingston College. The foundation’s first scholarship recipients were announced at the school, with Hibbert presenting a $780,000 cheque to cover tuition fees, books, and other expenses for five students. Among the recipients are jumpers Aaron McKenzie and Daquan Dawkins, as well as second-form students Jehu Green, Joshua Lewin, and Ricadeen Wilkins.

Hibbert, who holds the world Under-20 record and was the first Jamaican to receive The Bowerman award, credits Kingston College for instilling in him the value of giving back. He emphasized the importance of supporting the youth and providing scholarships annually through the Leaps and Bounds Foundation. Hibbert offered words of encouragement to the scholarship recipients, urging them to stay focused, humble, and thankful for the opportunities presented to them at the institution.

Kingston College’s principal, Dave Myrie, praised Hibbert for extending scholarships beyond the athletic community and highlighted Hibbert’s academic achievements during his time at the school. Myrie commended Hibbert for excelling academically, including earning distinctions in subjects like French. He expressed pride in Hibbert’s accomplishments and thanked him for his commitment to supporting the students at Kingston College through the foundation.

Expressing gratitude to his sponsor, Puma, Hibbert acknowledged the company’s investment in him and his foundation. He expressed hope for continued annual support from Puma to sustain the scholarships and ensure that more students at Kingston College have access to educational opportunities. Hibbert highlighted the importance of giving back to the community that had supported him in his academic and athletic pursuits.

The Leaps and Bounds Foundation’s scholarships aim to maximize the potential of the youth at Kingston College, with a focus on supporting students academically and athletically. Hibbert’s dedication to giving back to his alma mater and providing opportunities for students to excel reflects his gratitude for the support he received during his time at the school. The scholarships awarded by the foundation provide financial assistance to deserving students, enabling them to pursue their education and reach their full potential in various fields of study and athletics.
